These are all neighborhoods in the city of Philadelphia. I can assure you, you would not see any resemblance in this day and age but one can tell, the architecture was once, incredible.

It's difficult to explain the city because it is huge but each neighborhood is different from the next. There's a neighborhood called "Strawberry Mansion". It's close to Kensington and again, rather rough at this time. Late night trains do not stop at these areas. But when one gets to my area (that I can no longer afford) people are out dining and walking the parks after midnight. The draw, always, is having green spaces. I live by the large park which the dog park is a part of. There is a small undrivable stree called "The English Garden" that is a bunch of smaller houses English Cottage style with the gardens meticulously kept. Just a block from me but I have never walked in there!

I haven't eaten a choko in years. That brings back memories of Oz.

Sheila, you are a Philadelphian? I live out near K of P, right on the edge of Valley Forge NP. It is lovely out there. You probably have heard all the crap going on about Hahnemann/Drexel. I work at the Drexel U Medical College near Germantown.

Re: QDC- Quick-Dry-Cafe .... June (already!)

No way, Carol! I had thought you were an Aussie!

As of July 5, 2019 I'll have been in Philly for a decade. I am, however, planning a move to a greener, less urban area and Lancaster is calling my name!

Yes, I have heard about H. Hospital closing up. (Not trying to spell that one!) I'm in Fitler Sq for the last almost 9 years. Not far enough from the refinery that almost exploded last week and is now being closed down. (Add another 1000 out of work.) I've observed the city's barometer increasing in the last decade and it's time to abandon ship.

It would be wonderful to meet up sometime but I know, though the distance is not long the voyage takes forever. My first year I lived in Mt Airy and was always walking the area with my standard poodle. We probably crossed paths a few times!

I have been in Philly for 24 years. I do still have an Aussie accent though.

Well then we have to do it! As I've mentioned a few times over I don't have a car in the city but I seem to remember your flashy ride! Let's do something!

OK. You don't really need a car in the city as buses and trains are plentiful. Let's do it before medical school starts again (August).

Have fun ladies!

Sheila, my comment about the places was 'tongue in cheek', mostly for Blue's benefit .... Lancaster is also in England!!!

Re: QDC- Quick-Dry-Cafe .... June (already!)

We need to schedule before I have any appointments on a day then too. I know I have a dog all day on July 7/8 but no one else has scheduled ahead. I have other creatures to care for but they are not on schedules quite like the dogs are.
Usually Wednesdays are not good but if those are the only option I can make cancellations. Let me know- and not too far or expensive! I'm planning on a move!
