Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Great improvements Matt: the colours are very different in the last two paintings. Which is more accurate I wonder? I totally agree with Wendy: the enjoyment you get from finishing a painting is always tempered by the fact you have to mess about trying to get photo right!

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

I am quick off the mark this month too! I love the impressionists so the image of Giverny was my first choice. Tried to loosen up a bit, by not spending too long on it and trying to pretend my brush was a palette knife!

Just a little one: 8 x 8 oil on canvas. C and C always encouraged and appreciated! Thanks for looking. If the image is blurry, it's probably because I used my phone.

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Matt - I'm a bit confused regarding the actual colours! Being a photographer I cannot understand how they can be so different. From what I see here I like the second version the best.

Bizzibee - Neat job on the lily pond. I've just logged on to download my own effort (I hope) and found you beat me to it!

regards - Peter

yeah, sorry about that dewarp. The photo in my post on 05-07-2019 10:32 AM
had the glare of an overhead light shining down from above. I couldn't delete the post.

Bizzibee, I love your pond, especially the water surface.

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Wow Peter that's a beautiful highly coloured version! Those purples are stunning. I wish I could achieve that with oil paints! Excellent!

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Bizzibee: Awesome rendition of the lily pond - a very serene and tranquil effect you achieved

Peter:I agree with Bizzibee - wow! Those colors just pop right off my screen (I'm a colorholic ) There's an almost tropical, fantasy feel to it - beautiful - I enjoy your work so much

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

I"m hosting over at watermedia forum, so I'll be late with my entry. I wanted to do the lily pond too, but you both did such a fantastic job - mine would look pitiful next to those 2 entries, will have to find another one to do now

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

I drew the fishing boat on my phone using sketch guru and then added a filter or two in Picsart

I decided to do the train as well

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Wow - things have really been happening here while I wasn't watching!

Thanks for the comments Bizzibee and CaliAnn.

Dan - nicely done, I like both images. I especially like the boat and dock. Well done.

(I expect to be out of touch for the next couple of days - should be back home early next week.)

regards - Peter

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Bizzibee, appropriately loose and impressionistic, and quintessentially Giverny!
Peter, I love the punched-up color in your version.
Dan, a couple of great digi paintings; really like the textures, especially in the first one.

Despite all my ambitions, all I've managed to fit in so far is a little charcoal sketch, 4x6 on grey pastel paper.
