Lightbulb !!OnTheTable!!

Hi everybody,
I have been drawing these days one of the corners of my house, I did it with charcoal, graphite, pierre noir. It Is my first time using these kind of material, I used to use just pencil, but I´m pretty impressed of the results that you get with it, It just adds contrast which I was unable to get with pencils,
by the way, I´m quite a newbie in this artistic world and I am pretty confused about techniques and materials, what do you use to get the different tones of grey??, I use paper torchs(stumps??) but I don´t get the softness that I want sometimes..
so any comment absolutely welcome
cheers!!

Welcome Guillermo. This is neat. Love the wood grain and the little box with the dogs. How cool. The guy on the magazine reminds me of a guy from an alternative band but for the life of me I can't think of his name.

I like this.....my immediate thought was "That looks like Henry Rollins" which is amazing for such a small part of the picture.

I don't really work much in graphite, but when I do my charcoal paintings I mostly use Q-tips to blend areas and "charcoal dusted" Q-tips to lay down the underpainting and the subsequent mid-tones.
