I like the first one and I'd like to see the gradient to black at the top just to see. The steel gray really sets him off. I also like how your wariors are starting to take on a sculptural feel almost 3D.
If you have not dipped your toe into 3D maybe you should.

The ones I can recommend for ease of use and sculpture like capabilities are FormZ, Poser, and Maya on the high end. Most illustrators develop form and lighting then migrate to photoshop but you can do so much more than that.
With your textures, lighting and other skills you will be amazed at what is possible. 3D does not have to be technical but I find the high end a little laborious for a right minded brain like mine.
