Playing with line and color WIP

I just started this two days ago with a watercolor underpainting. I'm not happy with the really dark brown, but I am hoping to remedy that as I work the cp. This is an exercise, not a serious painting.

nice study...love the color and the brown doesn't bother me at all. sass i don't like the swoop in front of the background...it tends to cut it off and then leaves a weird blank area. by dividing it like that you're almost creating two distinct pieces.

I like it Charissa! Although I do agree with arlene about the swoop in the middle. Still its nice to see people experimenting with different methods and all! Great inspiration! LOL

This looks like a colour fascinating base for CP! Looking forward to seeing it grow in many dimensions...

I cannot follow up the change in planes/surfaces around the horizontal line two-thirds up, left, but probably that's going to be clarified during the CP stage?

Just took a look at you WC and mixed media work. Some amazing pieces, and glorious colour...!

Arlene, I see what you mean, but I can fix that easily There is going to be plenty of shading in that little valley that will bring everything together. I'm slowly building up my color, and I only have a couple of layers on at the moment. This is a fun project for me, because I am not doing it for anything in particular, and I love playing with lines and color

Thank you all for your comments. I will post my progress pics in this thread.

Personally I think this could be a finished work already! Of course I completely understand wanting to add all the wonderful detail! After all, I think that is what attracts us to this medium. Seems like most people that do CP work and just nuts for details!
