Color (colour) Buster??

Hi, I'm new around here, and to painting (using oils as my medium), but I've learned a ton on here already. A couple night ago I was watching a youtube video (linked here) about color mixing that was extraordinarily helpful to me. The gentleman that was instructing on the video sells a tool called the Color Buster (linked here), and it looks quite helpful. However, before I spend $17 on it, I wanted to see if anyone here has any feedback on it. I've already spent quite a bit on materials, and I've learned quickly that some was a waste of money, and I'd like to avoid as much of that as possible. I did do a search, but I couldn't come up with anything helpful, presumably because of the very generic name.

Thank you so much in advance for you help.

Re: Color (colour) Buster??

my friend and i have just purchased this ,he used it for the first time yesterday to match a red on a motorbike helmet and was very impressed even though he had printed it off on a less than ideal printer ,basicly it paid for itself on that one job with time saved alone as my friend runs a custom automotive shop and even comented that he would not have gone for the same colour adjustment that the colour buster showed to be the correct move

as it comes with a satifaction or money back guarantee i cant see that you could lose anything by trying it

we actualy purchased it on recomendation of a very well respected artist who seems very impressed with it

my advise is to have the colour buster printed off by a profesional print shop which is what we will be doing ,maybe we are being fussy but if you are going to use a colour matching system like this then its worth having it printed off as accuratly as possible

Re: Color (colour) Buster??

Thank you Paul, it's great to hear from someone who has actually used it. If I purchase it, I was planning on printing it off both here at home, and at a print shop, just so I could compare. I figure printing here at home isn't going to cost me anything, and if it prints at home comparably to the print shop I'll know I can print it at home when I inevitably need another copy.

Re: Color (colour) Buster??

The Colour Checker section seems to show each of the pure hues lightened and darkened, but I don't see any of those hues greyed down. I.e. I see 2 color dimensions shown on the Colour Checker not 3. So I'm wondering how you would use it to isolate and 'see' greyed-down colors? Maybe I'm missing something.
