It's going to be hard to enjoy a nice steak after seeing this lovely animal trying to lick my hand. 9 x 12" on Grey Strathmore paper. India ink and white Gellyroll pens.
Here I'm just getting started.
I used Photoshop to desaturate my Puyallup Fair photo to gray scale, and gridded it out into 16 squares with Photoshop guides. I find that I always get some proportion badly wrong with pen and ink, so gridding the photo, and the paper solves that problem. I drew the main shapes in with a 4H pencil in the grid squares, then switched to pen when I felt my inner artist wake up.
Here is a full size crop. I've never drawn rope before and was afraid of it at first. But it turned out to be very fun. Just looking at shapes and drawing.
I recently invested in a light stand from B&H Photo
. It allows me to precisely aim my light on my drawing pad, or on my model, without lighting anything else.
