Re: ***DAILY WASH ~ Saturday September 14th 2019***

Good Morning! It's sunny and warm. The rain from last evening's storm is evaporating and it promises to be a really nice day, albeit quite humid. I slept in till after 8:00 o'clock!

I think I'd like to make a run to the Farmers' market in Ridgetown. I would like some fresh zucchini and my vines are done and cleared away. Then there's the need for more garlic.

I meant to tell you about our visit to the Wednesday market this week. It's been running for many, many years. But, it deteriorated from a great market offering fresh produce to more of a flea market. When we stopped, I remarked that the parking lot was quite empty. Well, that's because the place was half empty with tarps draping many of the areas. It seems the place is under new ownership, the flea market vendors have been escorted to the door, and renovations are under way. It will be a farmers' market once again by the end of October.

I didn't get to the sweet pea study yesterday, but I'll finish it today for sure. I really like it and it would make a good "intermediate" floral.

Nice photos, JJ... you're steppin' out.

The wonderful scent in the air before it rains is ozone... a type of oxygen.

Hi Doug... I'm very much like you, the family worry wart. It does me no good, just as it doesn't help you either. I lose sleep and my stomach gets upset as my shoulders and neck tighten up. You cannot control what you cannot change. (((hug)))

Awh, so cute, Rod! What fun. Our Beuford T Kitty (rip) would play fetch.

QS, that arrangement is gorgeous!! My Mother fancied herself something of a decorator and would have love, love, loved that class and that arrangement.

Anita, while we're certainly not ready to let our three kitties go, it's a challenge to find someone to care for them when we travel.

"All That Glitters", JJ.

What a fun day, Ellen!!! Wendy's offers a few really good salads that I like to order if we go out for lunch (which is not often). Jurors. We could write a book about how and why they arrive at their decisions that none of us seem to agree with, except the Winners of course.

Hi Lynn!!!

Now, I'm off to shower. Because I can. Have a great day everyone. our Lurkers and it's time for our absent friends to pop in and say hi.

Good day all,

Lovely day here.

Doug, you are not alone in your agonizing over the operation of your home. If I can't solve the problem, I'm glad that I can call a professional who has likely seen that same problem before. And, if not, their experience will probably allow them to devise a solution.

JJ, aim for vanity. "Looking Gorgeous Jewelry."

Janet and I both hope we can outlive Ms. Feral. She will be our last pet.

When I started painting in my teens, I used oils. After staining my mother's carpet, I switched to acrylics.

Today I'll be replacing a space in my kitchen floor linoleum that has been damaged by my chair.

Re: ***DAILY WASH ~ Saturday September 14th 2019***

Good Morning!!

I slept in and then rushed around to get ready to get to table tennis. Played a few games, collected the money and am back home.

Laundry now and I am in the mood so will not linger here for long.

Char, I am glad you "can" shower again. I am disillusioned about the farmers markets, most of the time the produce is bought at a huge warehouse in Mississauga very early in the morning and very little is actually produced by genuine local farmers.

re worrying, I think most poor night's sleep is caused by worrying. Most of the time I personally decide to think about it the next morning and if need be write it down so I will remember in the morning and then I let it go and sleep like a log.

Pets, age is one reason why I will not get one and the other one is money for the vet bills.

QS BEAUTIFUL arrangement!!!

Lynn, cuter than cute GGD!! so glad you are dancing again.

Ellen, re jurors - what Char said.

JJ I the smell of the rain hitting the parched earth and I the smell of freshly cut grass. Nice photos!! Your pictures look different, did you get a new camera???

Rod

re flush toilets, hard to believe but right until when I was 19 and left Austria none, and mean, NONE, of our neighbours had flush toilets, they were all kind of indoor outhouses. Since I wasn't there I have no idea when it actually changed.

Darla, wishing you a wonderful and exciting weekend with the grands and seeing your daughter.

to all here and all yet to come!!

Uschi

Amazing that you are playing tennis again Uschi.

The first two houses I lived in as a boy had a toilet in the yard and no bathroom. A tin bath was the order of the day. Cooking and water was from a coal-fired range.

The next house was the former colliery manager's house which was badly affected by subsidence and had an actual bathroom. Laundry was done in a "copper" in the corner of the kitchen. Again cooking on a coal range.

Char thank Ted for the advice. I will try to get that done this coming week. Wish I'd known that last time. That's probably why I ended up needing a new battery. Glad you can use your plumbing again.

Kay are you managing to dance having both hips done ? I would have thought it would take a couple of years before trying to dance , If then ?
Les

Les first I'll try walking. That's going to take awhile. Hope you're not in the doghouse today.

Doug I'm a worrier too. But sometimes you have to let it go. I'm sure everything will turn out fine.

Uschi I too am amazed that you are playing table tennis again.

Gorgeous photos JJ.

Anita I am picturing you with your cats walking down the street. What a picture that would make.

Rod my male cat catches his mousy toy between his paws, but never one. Pretty dexterous cat.

QS that is a lovely arrangement. Unique as well. Loved your painting yesterday too.

Well I don't know what I'll do today. I was going to take a walk but my hip hurts from yesterday. So maybe I'll give it a rest today and walk tomorrow. My life is sooooo exciting.

Later,
Kay

Re: ***DAILY WASH ~ Saturday September 14th 2019***

We're home from the market. I processed 4 freezer bags of shredded zucchini. They'll make muffins or quick breads this winter. I saved a zucchini to cook for dinner. I bought some jalapeno peppers and haven't decided what to do with them. I think I'll stuff a few for "poppers" and then chop up the rest for the freezer. And, we have another pound of garlic to process.

Ted needed to stop at Canadian Tire to buy a new rake. Ours have broken over the years and we just needed something new to work with. I picked up another Christmas gift. A set of 4 Lagostina baking pans was on sale from $119 to $29. I couldn't pass it up. I don't know who'll get it.

I'm heading over to Ted's computer desk to work on my sweet peas. Today, there are all kinds of my favourite cooking shows airing on PBS, so I can get a two for one today.

Before I log off... the monarchs have been flittering around our yard. Dozens and dozens of them. I stood out under the cedars and in the dark of the thicket, they were swirling around my head. It was magical to say the very least. And heartwarming because they've been declining for so many years. It was too dark amongst the cedars to get any good photos, but these were in the walnut and oak trees.

Bill, I have convinced Ted that paying a professional to do what we really don't know how to do actually makes sense.

Uschi, the markets down here are wonderful and all local. The vegetable and fruit stands are plentiful. It's almost not worth growing a garden because the good food is readily available.

Kay, this side of the grass means that your life still has the capacity to BE exciting!

Paint brushes are calling me.

Re: ***DAILY WASH ~ Saturday September 14th 2019***

Well, after I posted here I decided that this is a perfect day for working in the garden. Bright sunshine with a cool breeze which is just right for working.

Had my lunch and started and OMG what a disaster that back garden is. I haven't touched a thing all summer. Everything, and I mean everything, is overgrown and out of control. I'll do what I can now and every minute in spring and summer I will have to dedicate to that back garden.

I'll do what needs to be done (lots) inside the house over the winter so I don 't have to worry about that when spring comes. My back hurts because a lot of the stuff I have to do is with my back bent so I can walk and do stuff under the bushes.

Doug and Kay, it's not that I am not capable of playing table tennis, although I am not as good as I used to be, I have just spent my time washing walls, painting and purging and that will carry on over the winter and as I have just said also spring.

It's 3:15, maybe after this rest I can gather a bit more energy to make it down into the basement for doing some laundry.

Uschi
My neck is 80% good again.

Char, how is your back???

Anita, I am smiling at the vision too When we lived in London we had a ginger tom who used to follow me to the store, wait outside and then come back with me.

Re: ***DAILY WASH ~ Saturday September 14th 2019***

I can believe that Uschi. When I was 12 I left the farm where it was outside toilet with something similar upstairs for the night. It would have remained like that for some years till the house was demolished. In the city a different story at my grand parent s house, all modern conveniences for many, many years.

Dancing was fun, and physically not hard at all, but my hip and back were complaining that evening. Recovered by the next day, that I can continue to bounce back that quickly. Next class on Monday..

Very interest arrangement QS. My mum used to do some lovely bouquets from her garden flowers. Another artistic expression!

We are lucky here Char, the Thursday market is truly local farmers, so there is not always the choice one might like, but I always enjoy going there. I hope yours gets well established. Wonderful photos, we have many here too, but nothing like that, you must be on a major skyway.

I have a new, smaller microwave, fits better than the old one, plus two new tops, entirely unplanned, but fun!

We had a cat that followed us when we walked the dog each evening, around the block and back again. I think she thought she was a dog

Re: ***DAILY WASH ~ Saturday September 14th 2019***

Good afternoon. It was my Friday the 13th today. John had plugged in the remote for the Apple TV in the kitchen. I went ahead and used my phone for the remote, but it does not have a volume control. I reached for the TV remote, and I pushed the wrong button. We lost our Apple TV, and I could not get it back. It was an old digital TV and was not a smart TV. So, we ran to Target and found a 24” Vizio Smart TV. It is all set up and on the wall mount. That only took 2 hours.

Char, We cannot grow a summer garden here, it has to be a spring garden. We have good, fresh fruit and vegetables year round, because we get shipments from Mexico. We are totally spoiled here.

My home health care is all set up and is free for after the surgery. I woke up at 4:30 am and could not go to sleep. No use fighting it. I went to the living room and watched TV on my iPad. I will be sleepy tonight.

We have not replaced Lucy because of our age and the horrific prices of vet bills in our area.

Have a wonderful Saturday.
