Mural on Canvas Work in Progress

Just completed this Mural for a Wine Cellar. It was great painting this in my studio. I could paint at midnight if I wanted!

More in progress pictures:

Finished!

I am letting a pro install the mural, but my client and I tacked it up just to get an idea about how it will look. I think we put it up a little crooked, but you get the idea!

Thanks for looking!

WOW Pat, this is FANTASTIC!!! Love your natural looking colors and the wonderful play of light...

I wish I knew someone in my area that could mount these, I would push them more. But I don't know that I would trust anyone to hang it properly.

Re: Mural on Canvas Work in Progress

Any good hanger can do it. They just use a clay based paste and smoothe it out like wallpaper. A small piece like this is really easy. I put chalk lines to show where it is level. I also made sure I painted it larger then the space it is to occupy. The benefit for the client is that if they move, they can take it with them. It is really great for a ceiling Your neck thinks so! Great job! I am getting too old to lay on my stomach to paint right on the wall but painting on a canvas, now that's a great idea. May I ask how it is then applied to the wall. Curious Tigress

Stunning! Your wip is a lesson in itself! Great!

Pat, did you, perchance, take a murals class from a gal in Baltimore, MD? I can't think of her name right this second, because I am having a bit of a low blood sugar attack. She teaches a class on murals with an emphasis on perspective.

Re: Mural on Canvas Work in Progress

Thank-you Semper, No I studied drawing and painting at Pratt institute in NYC a long time ago. I did just take a color and perspective class with a fabulous Artist from Australia, named Ron Francis. He helped to clear away some of those perspective cob-webs!
tigress, I don't hang my murals on canvas, I let the experts do it, but they say it is easy as long as you chalk mark the borders and leave some salvage. I believe they use a clay based wall paper paste, so as to be able to remove it if the client moves or redecorates.
