Adorable Lorna. If you don't get a bunch of photos for future boards, you will miss a bet!

Re: Scratchy corner July 16-23

very cute pup Lorna.
Several of my larger watercolors were released to the public this weekend. What great fortunate thing did I do to secure this you ask? Well some idiot broke into my Jeep and stole my watercolors, one my Mom painted for me among other things of personal value to me but not to the rest of the world. This is what I get for living where it is too expensive to live in anything larger than 300 sqft and you use the back of your Jeep as a storage unit. I did take pictures of all my work so I can take that to add to my police report. I doubt I will see them again though and they probably won't fetch much of anything since some junkie probably took them. The price to pay for living in "paradise"! ah well . . . . still have my family and my health and all my scratchboards are small enough to store in my tiny apt so they still exist for me To the person in Canada that coined the expression "Too many idiots, not enough tigers" I continue to use that quote - given after some idiots got in the tiger cage in Calgary - not long after the same in San Francisco! So when I say "not enough tigers ..." this is my polite way of pointing out the idiocy of the general human population - whew - I'm done now! Maybe I should avoid anything sharp for a few hours ;P

Damn, Jean, what a shame. Nothing much lower than a thief. I hope something good comes of it.

Oh, Jean - that's the worst! I'm so sorry. Definitely not enough tigers in your neighborhood.

Maybe you need a voodoo doll that you CAN stab with a scratchboard tool or two!!

Oh, Jean, I am so sorry! You have been so encouraging to me to try using watercolors with sb, and I Hate, Hate, Hate the thought of someone's art being taken by someone instead of going to someone who just fell in love with it.

Dang Jean - that really sucks! I would advise you to keep an eye on craigslist in your area, as I know of more than one person that has recovered stolen property because the thief trys to pawn it on craigslist for a buck.

Re: Scratchy corner July 16-23

I will definitely keep an eye on craigslist for awhile. I canvased the art community here and put out a description and asked to report anything to the police. It happened on the weekend and I already have my approved case number from the police so they are trying to act as quickly one can. I did have enough sense to put a thing on the back of all my watercolors saying it was an original and that I owned copyright and all that good stuff. I'm considering putting something else on the backs now that say something to the effect of "if not purchased directly from artist then call police" and follow that up with a way to protect a buyer that subsequently sells. Mind you I do not think I am anywhere near that level yet but you never know what kook out there is going to cross your path! My scratchboards are all small enough to fit in my apt so no losses there - thank heavens! That is a ll more work to reproduce and really can not actually be reproduced. My bosses son broke his leg this morning so my story was not nearly as bad as his! Thanks all and Ann - I think I will scratch a voodoo doll! ;P

Re: Scratchy corner July 16-23

Sorry to hear about the robbery Jean. When you live in an area with reasonable housing costs, you don't realize how others have to do with so much less space. Hope you find some of the work, especially the one from your mom.

Rich
