detailI bought a bottle of Liquitex transparent raw umber acrylic ink – and I’m liking it a lot.
Not the greatest drawing but a quickie to try the ink out. It’s the same view that I’ve been looking at through changing seasons and light. The white is a bit harsh but the light through the fence was very bright and the shadowed, overgrown garden and foliage really dark against it. The crab apples are getting quick big now but still green. In the winter they glow a lovely apricot colour.

August 29, 2018 at 9:56 am #681915This is a lovely medium, Vivien, thanks for showing us. I’ve not heard of this ink. I’m quite fond of using walnut ink, another brown. You always make yours glow.

August 29, 2018 at 3:02 pm #681919I haven’t used walnut ink – is that bought or home made?
Someone I know made some lovely oak gall inks – by adding iron to some she got a darker colour as well as the more usual one. I don’t have access to oak galls – even if I had the patience to try to make some!
