Bessie: 2nd attempt at digital oil portraits

Here is my second attempt at digital oils. This is a portrait of my Grandma Bessie done in Artrage. All C&C are welcome. (lov'n this digital stuff)

Hi. Nice one. Try using the dodge tool on the eyes. The eyes make a portrait pop. Agree about the earing.

great job. Don't be afraid to deepen the shadows, saturate the mids and pop the highlights a bit more.

This is a beautiful portrait, but the suggestions above make sense to me: there is some lack of contrast of the values (lights and darks).

Hi Eduardo. Hope you dont mind but I took the liberty of adjusting the contrasts and using the dodge tool as I suggested just to show how the contrasts make it jump out. It is a good picture as you can almost feel the goodness of the subject. Cheers. Paul.

i dissagree.... your original piece has a nice quality about it - the only part i would adjust any value would be the neck shadow - darken it up slighty to set the neck back from the head - but i think your original is great
