Hi everyone,
Sharing my latest drawing – and my first scratchboard of 2020.
This is my cat, Norman. He’s got almost perfect tuxedo cat markings, and he is beautiful and stately and funny and adorable. I hope you like my portrait of him. This is the second time I’ve drawn him – the other time was in pen and ink.
This is 5×5 inches, my smallest scratchboard to date. It’s done with #11 X-Acto knife and also a bit of fiberglass brush. I did stipple the background a bit to make his ears show more. Kind of an experiment…hope it works. C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!
Here’s a resized version that seems closer to the size of the original.

The stippling does make the ears stand out. What a lot of work!

Thank you, Christel.
Thank you for such great comments, Kay!
Bob, thank you very much! He’s a rather fancy cat.
Penny, thank you for your wonderful feedback!
Karen, thank you so much!
Thanks again, everyone! Unfortunately, I think my scanner’s settings are off…this looks much gritter – and oddly also blurred – on screen than it does in person. I need to try to rescan it in the hopes for a better image.

Thank you, Chammi! Norm is a wonderful guy…very shy. Most friends and family couldn’t even say what he looks like, as he’s elusive as a mouse around strangers. With those that live here, though, he’s flamboyant, playful, and a bundle of kitten attitude in an almost-8-year-old body.
Hi Ntl! Great to hear from you! Thank you very much. Hope you’re doing well.
