A Day on the River Lee and Dawn in Greenwich

The final outing until next winter for the Brass Monkeys, The first two are on the River Lee a tributary of theThames. It was a very flat day with a blanket of cloud but very clear so I struggled to find subjects with enough tonal interest. The first outing for my new Pochade which can take the more expansive size of 16in by 10in.
The last one is Greenwich at dawn painted in a semi conscious state.

I really like your style !!!! The second one is amazing !!! It is really not easy to paint with this cloudy light but you pull it off with ease. Thank you for posting ! It inspired me for this week end

I like all three. Your use of color and perspective is wonderful.

Wow ... I am so impressed by anyone who can find inspiration on flat-light days. I will try to remember to look for tonal range on those days - regardless of the subject! All are beautiful but the last one is stunning! I like the contrast between light and dark and also between natural beauty and man-made structures.

Rob, I don't care how catatonic you were - That last painting sings! The light is just beautiful. You should cultivate that semi-conscious state!

Wonderful color, design/compositions, value structure-and best of all they have "flavor". I can smell the air and hear the sounds. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks all, it's odd painting very first thing, really almost a meditation with the city quiet and only the murmur of the river. Here's a gratuitous pochade pic.
