Just some rocks. Drawn on location with ink wash and a pair of Microns, about 5×6″.
July 7, 2019 at 2:16 am #851229Nice shading ..it just needs a little rabbit peeking out behind the foremost rock. But that’s just me, the animal lover.

& why ? – because such apparently simple still life studies done from life enhance our art immeasurably.
Way to go VA.

July 7, 2019 at 1:51 pm #851232Thanks all. Like the builders of Stonehenge I struggle with rocks, but maybe it’ll be worth it in the end.
July 7, 2019 at 10:03 pm #851230Leaves is my worst nightmare. I don’t know why it is, but for some reason my leaves always look fake and contrived no matter what I do.
July 9, 2019 at 5:16 am #851231This is a lovely little study. Really like the shading and textures.

So long, and thanks ...
August 8, 2019 at 10:34 pm #851223When are two rocks more than “just two rocks”? Right here! Very enjoyable to look at!
August 9, 2019 at 1:58 am #851224I’ve always loved rocks. Great job!

Cheers, Maureen

(Sorry, once an engineer, always…). I too struggle to draw realistic rocks and yours serve as a good example to emulate.

tedsSeptember 1, 2019 at 11:30 pm #851228That front rock looks like a very comfortable seat when tired on a long walk. Just enough details on the front rock and the right amount of lack of details on the back one. well done.
Clark
Thanks,
Clark
