Re: Welcome to What's On Your Easel......October 2019

I amazed myself last night with the look of her lips when I was finished. I watched about 5 vids last night before starting and they really helped me understand how to paint details.
I struggled with the nose and got it back to square one so hopefully I can make it look better.
And I'm struggling with the eye but I'm taking that slow so I don't screw it completely up.

A bit random, but if someone is looking for a studio setup solution, some ikea $14 mosslanda shelves, a thin $39 ikea glass+metal computer table and some plastic sign panels might work for you. Ended up being cheaper than an easel but with more reference space and less floor space taken

Dustlilac, isn't a studio of a really creative person supposed to be a big mess? Budget: zero.

Yeah, I used to paint on floor but then I realized I want to paint till I’m one hundred years old and killing my back now is not a good strategy

Re: Welcome to What's On Your Easel......October 2019

She has hair now but it's just blocked in for now. I'm waiting for my new grainger brushes to arrive so I can test them out on making hair. She'll have strands of hair flowing down her face with shadows to hopefully add some dimension and depth. The image just looks really flat right now.

I'm not sure if I really like the image overall but I don't really hate it either. I'm going to try my hand at glazing the skin tones once it good and dry. I know there needs to be more contrast in the skins shadows so glazing some color may help if I do it right.
