Something a little different from me :)

Autumn Motif
Specifications: 13.5″ x 24″ mixed media paper cutting

The design motif is cut gold poster board. The leaves are made from red, orange and yellow Canson Mi-Teints paper. The green paper is a sheet of marbleized paper. To boost the vibrancy and color saturation, the leaves are colored with Prismacolor pencils and burnished very heavily. I wanted these colors to shine like stained glass.

My usual paper sculptures include a paper cut graphic as the background. This time I did the background first, not yet settling on a subject. Blue jay, crow, black cat, owl, nothing seemed to pair well. Decided the graphic was too bold, the colors too saturated. Some encouraging words helped me decide to leave the graphic as-is, with no focal point.

Thanks for looking in and letting me share. :)

Lovely Rob, and very seasonal! The whole thing really does look like a stained glass window.

Like it a lot just as is.
