    Hi,
I am trying to start still life painting using oil after working on portraits.
I purchased several videos and tried to follow the artists suggestions.
I saw works done by Jeff Leg, Mike Siegel, Robert Johnson, and Stephanie Birdsall. They are great artists.
This is a work done on a panel, 12×16, using Rembrandt, Old Holland, etc.
This is a WIP and I would like to get some C&C. The composition may not be adequate but the idea was to use oil instead of using pastels.

I think you are doing a very good job so far. But since that bunch of grapes and the fruit behind it have the same color and value it is not clear where one ends and the other begins. so you will have to work on that. Also, two objects “kissing” each other, as the apple and the white vase are doing, is not a good idea composition-wise. but I think that will work fine. I’m looking forward to seeing the end result.

I agree with the suggestions -but I love the play of light !

Charming. Grapes and plum meeting are fine – goldensun – that is called “lost edges” and is a good thing to have. The composition I think could have had more air above it, right now it feels like the edge is pushing down on the leaves. The white is a lovely contrast to the rest, but a bit too much contrast, I think to bright, unless you are going to give it some subtle glaze color later.

Being born places you at a greater risk of dying later in life.

Hi AllisonR, yes, it is necessary to use soft edges in some areas of the painting, but I think he overdid it a little in that specific area.

                        It is beautiful, Moises!

                        Allison, Kreativek,
Thank you. I think I have finished it by tomorrow.

Good critiques, and the plum is superb.

This is the finished version. Thank you all.
The idea of the composition was the nectarine which is glowing next to the mug.
I’m learning a lot from videos.

                                Hi Zoran,
Everything is going well and I am doing something new like still life using oil.
                                How are you doing?
