Commissioned portrait

11x14 gallery-wrapped canvas

After a very prolonged "ugly stage" its done...the varnish is drying as I type.

Its not perfect, there are some things I don't like about it, but it was making me crazy. My daughter (whose eyes & opinion I count on) deemed it "varnishable"! Yay!

Re: Commissioned portrait

hard to say how close it is to the ref,. Do you have the pic of them? Aside from that, I see nothing wrong with this.

I especially like the way you painted the man.

Re: Commissioned portrait

The man looks closer to the ref I think. But good likeness overall, and I love how well you have done the teeth. They give me jitters!!

Re: Commissioned portrait

I had SUCH a time with her! Well, with both of them...but she was HARD to paint for some reason! I got her this close...and it DOES look better IRL...and called it done.

I've shown it to a coworker and she recognized her immediately without being shown the ref pic.....so I'm okay with it.

You've come a long way baby! Good changes and updates. Congratulations.

Now the final test, do they like it.

I have a feeling....all will go well.

Well done Dee!
I know just how much of a challenge this painting was, and you rose to the occasion.
You have a lot to be proud of with this painting.

Thank you all!

As soon as the varnishing, etc is done I'll call her. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Re: Commissioned portrait

Tremendous accomplishment! I at first thought the painting was the photo. I've scrolled back and forth for comaprsion and I see nothing but "job accomplished!"
