New to a new forum

I've gotta get out more. I didn't know this forum was here until I got my WC newsletter today. I hang out in the Drawing forum but now it looks like I've got somewhere else to roam about as well. What a fantastic place this is. I do know a few names here but most are new to me. So I've got alot of lookin' to do. Anyway, as my first post I'll throw out a couple that I did earlier this year for a project I was working on. There are 24 of these in all... what a job that was. The first is Three Eagles and the second is Bull Tongue. Both are done with Derwent Drawing pencils and are about 16X20.

Thanks for lookin'.

Peace,
AL

Thanks so much Iris. I'm sure you will see alot more of my work on here as time goes by. For now if you click on the Broken Promises link in my sig line, you will find the rest of this series. I do warn you... it's a very looooong thread to get through.

Peace,
AL

Good to see you here too Al, I watched this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad you will be posting here too. I roam about in several forums, time being the only problem.

Re: New to a new forum

This is getting exciting as folk discover this teriffic forum. I love seeing all the different mediums exploring this theme. Your work is absolutelly stellar. I love the muted coloring as it supports well the historical placement of these portraits. You have conveyed all the pride and wisdom of these elders.

Re: New to a new forum

Looks just great. I like your restrained use of linework. Very dimensional without looking like a "roadmap" on someone's face, which is very typical of so many drawings of this type by other artists that I've seen in the past.

Now that there is a western art forum that allows all kinds of mediums, I am tempted to do some more drawing of my own!

Re: New to a new forum

I'm so glad you found us, Al... the newsletter has rounded up a few of you and that's good. I'd seen your 'Broken Promises' project before and love it.

The monochromatic sepia really emphasizes the character in these two faces. What wonderful work!!!
