Re: *** Daily Wash Sunday 9th June 2019 ***

Good morning, weather will be hot, sunny, and humid for the daytime and then evening thunder boomers tonight. My friend in Cornwall said that they had hail and heavy rains all day today.

Exciting day yesterday. I took my new glasses back to Walmart and cancelled the rest of the order and got a refund. They could not make the readers, and it was foolish to waste $200 for something that I could not wear. I am going to make a trip to the drug store to get some off the rack ones and make my own. Then we went to a new restaurant called That Chicago Place that specializes in Chicago style pizza and Italian Beef sandwiches. The sandwiches made out of French bread and 8 inches long, filled with tender thinly sliced roast beef and Italian gravy. They are so good. Lunch today will be leftover pizza.

Back was still hurting yesterday, but seems much better today. I donít have to have back surgery.

Uschi, Try spreading chili powder and pepper around the garden. That is what we use here to get rid of the armadillos.

JJ, Love your garden photos.

Lynn, Your muffins look delicious.

BBL. I am hungry.

Re: *** Daily Wash Sunday 9th June 2019 ***

I am too worn out to even have the energy for lunch

Around 10:00 a.m. I took my first load of laundry downstairs, made a coffee and sat on the deck to have it and a ciggie and saw all sorts of dead branches on the bushes and was going to do a quick job of pruning them.

Pruning is one thing but they all have to be broken down so they can fit into the brown garden bags.

Well three hours later here I am, worn out

Grass still needs cutting but not now Laundry needs doing, but not now

Storms are brewing.

Nancy, are you going to buy two cheap pairs and switch the lenses around???

Lynn, I could do with these muffins right now, right this very minute, without having to move an inch

Ellen, I wonder where all this hot air is coming from, we are not getting it down here????

Uschi

Re: *** Daily Wash Sunday 9th June 2019 ***

Good Morning! It's cool, breezy and cloudy. We are not getting the sunny heat we need for the garden to thrive. It's verdant, but it's not maturing. I did notice that our pear tree has lots of fruit on the limbs. My tomatoes and peppers up on the porch are beginning to bloom. It's warmer and protected up there.

Strawberries are finally in season. My own are not blossoming yet, but the field berries are now available. I'll give it a few more days and then buy a couple of flats for jam and freezing.

I'm heading to the grocery store shortly. And then, of course, the laundry needs attention.

I decided to re-read the Clan of the Cave Bear, and all the following books in that series. I remember why I loved them so much... It's a great book to take out onto the porch and read in the sunshine (if it's out). Not today.

I sold a little painting. Phragmites are invasive in our low and wetlands here in SW Ontario. They've choked out cattails and water plants and flowers. They look like wild rice and are actually quite pretty. I hate them. My painting was intended as an awareness of the problem and I did make notes on the back. Someone either agreed with me, or ignored my hen scratching. I never bothered to photograph the painting, so I can't share.

Doug, until we relocate our radio receiver, everything is slow to respond at this house!

Rod, isn't it a lot of fun to see what and who have been exploring your garden during the night while you're asleep?

Mike, the dressings that were used to close the terribly wide fissures in Ted's surgical incision were especially coated in silver. They were actually grey!

Hiya Geoff!

Sylvia, Ted's appetite comes and goes. There are days when it's a struggle to get any food into him because it literally makes him sick to his stomach. That's why those few days when he actually has an appetite, I'm thrilled.

I'm wanting to get some chickens roasting on our barbeque rotisserie.

JJ, your garden is looking nice and healthy.

Bill, when you're adapting recipes for your pressure cooker, calculate about 1/3 the time. It's amazing how little time is required to fully cook chicken. Makes you kind of nervous...

Uschi, I at the notion of garlic aroma wafting from your garden! You do have a time with varmints! Almost as bad as Sylvia's thieving squirrels and birds!

OMG, Ellen! At 30C, you must have been a puddle!

Kay, I hope you can get to swim today!!!

Everyone...

It's 9:45 and I can't get my post to post. We're heading out to drive to town. I'll post this when we get home.

Home again... it's 1:40 and all groceries have been portioned out into meal size packages (the proteins) and everything is put away. We stopped at the Kids' place for coffee, but they weren't home. Ted's up napping now. The store was a zoo filled with shoppers and it was a challenge to navigate around them. Our favourite store routinely changes aisle contents making it hard to find things. I needed a few things from the middle aisles and I think I walked around the store three times.

Lynn, your muffins sound really good! I like to make something similar to put in Simon's lunch because he can never get himself up in time to eat breakfast.

Nancy, I'm curious as to how you'll make your own glasses from drug store readers.

Kay, Steve and Tracy and Betty and whomever I've missed by name.

I'm going to try this again. With the wind, I just might be able to get enough line of sight to get my post online. I hope you'll all enjoy the balance of your day...

Rod, I just learned that a group of hedgehogs is called a prickle. Got a kick out of that.

Uschi, you could just invite the family over and use the sticks for a weenie roast.

Char, I only read the "Clan of the Cave Bears" just six years ago. Loved it and still much in my memory.

Char and Uschi, Yes, I will be buying 100 and 175 glasses and popping out the lenses to get what I need to see my minis. The 100 in the left eye and the 175 in the right eye. A lot cheaper than trying to get them made correctly! You just put the frames in hot water, remove a lens and replace it with a new one.

Rain moved in 4 hours earlier than predicted, so we are stuck at home until it stops. There is a severe storm over us right now.

Off to paint some miniature palm leaves.

Good to see you pop in June, I'd love to see your garden.

A "Prickle" of hedgehogs made me laugh Bill - logical

I may try that Nancy and see if I can improve my vision of the snooker balls.

It has been a lovely day, I spent an hour dismantling the patio table so I can take it to the tip if the window cleaner decides he doesn't want it.

Re: *** Daily Wash Sunday 9th June 2019 ***

We got over 2 1/4 inches of rain in one hour. It was a vicious storm. After the rain stopped, we ran a few errands and bought home dinner.

Uschi and Char, I found that I need a strength of 1.5 to read the small print. So, I bought 2 for the price of 1. They are Foster Grants, so they are good glasses. One pair for the kitchen, one for my purse. My RX ones are for doing my close up work.

Another storm system is supposed to come through tonight. Have a great evening.

Re: *** Daily Wash Sunday 9th June 2019 ***

My planting is done! I overheated again and gave up with one more tray of Petunias to do but I had no where left to put them. I gave them to the lady behind us. Now I just hope the heavy rains the next few days wonít destroy all my hard work. The ornamental crabapple is in full bloom but we are expecting the rain now over Michigan to fall after midnight tonight.

The rain is very needed with fires in the area causing the sun right now to glow orange from the smoke. Rain is expected for the next 6 days. Iíll spend the rainy week catching up on the housework I havenít touched while working in the garden. I also havenít gone to the gym in a couple of weeks so I need to get back to that as well.

The bread timer on the oven just beeped. Gotta run.

Clever you Nancy! Think I will do the same. I can never get the right strength readers for both eyes when I am wearing contact lens. I have several cheap ones with same frame, different strengths. Was going to toss them all!

Lynn, I was imagining JJ with a cow lying flat on her neck too

Much to do on this Monday morning. Slept 8.5 hours last night so I have the energy to match all the jobs required.

Re: *** Daily Wash Sunday 9th June 2019 ***

HELLO EVERYONE

Just busy with life at the moment as we all are. Saturday delivered a small patio table to our friend who just moved into a Senior apartment complex & has a great balcony to sit out on. We shall see how this goes. He's a complainer & I'm fully expecting that he's going to call this week & say he does not like it. It's a brand new 36" frosted glass table from Target. We shall see.

Then it was grocery shopping & houshold chores & an outdoor music concert . A tribute band to Elton John. We lucked out as our weather has been dismal the past few days.

On Sunday we attended a new hospital in our area on a tour. Then off for pizza at our favorite pizza place. Home & we both took naps

Today I have a Retina appt. this afternoon at 2PM. If they don't dilate my eyes I'll be good.

Wishing everyone a great week ahead.

Anita
