It's good too because so much of art is a response to world affairs. I just don't need more angst!

Re: Quick Dry Café - May 2019

It's pretty warm here lately, supposed to go to 24C today. I better stop making excuses and start getting out there, at least a little. There is some cleaning up I can do before planting time comes. Maybe an hour after lunch, then the rest of the afternoon for painting. My DS project is going very slowly. You know that feeling when you want to paint but you just can't stay focused on it?

Re: Quick Dry Café - May 2019

Does anyone know of a good resource for learning the techniques in painting clothing and draping textiles? I find I often what to paint in blankets or whatever but the folds of cloth behoove me!

Thank you!
Sheila

Re: Quick Dry Café - May 2019

It's really a question of observation!....first the direction of the folds, then adding the tones.... place the darks and add lightest last.... practise on a very small area first, like a single fold. The tonal areas will us usually form shapes, look at those.

That is a good one. Hadn't seen that before myself.

Happy Victoria Day to fellow Canucks! It's overcast here. We are not amused. But it means I can stay indoors and try to finish the painting for DS.

Excellent! That's going to take a lot of practice!

Re: Quick Dry Café - May 2019

It was nice here yesterday but I wasn't feeling well so I didn't do much. Started with a sore throat on Saturday, very sore throat on Sunday and then started getting sniffley. Throat wasn't as bad yesterday but I was extremely tired. Tried to paint a bit but couldn't stay focused.

I started playing Farming Simulator 19. I know hubby will say I should be doing real farming instead, but you can't drive in third person in real life. lol

Frangipani is in bloom, so is the bush jasmine. The fragrance is wonderful. Tomatoes are coming along. Also planted heatless jalapeńo peppers, bok choy, cucumber and Brussels sprouts. Want to make horseradish/mustard pickles.
