Richard: I'm sorry ... I read your lead in as "... a start" of the painting - I like it ... as usual, well done -

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks Hud - no problem - Some of my work does at times have a WIP LOOK. WE USE TO HAVE A CAT WHO WOULD RUN IN CIRCLES AND THEN FALL OVER A GO TO SLEEP! Sometimes I think my arm has had enough movement and it just stops moving! :>))

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Start Of A Setting Sun: You have such a way with light - sometimes it's very bold and other times, as in this painting, very subtle - just as it is in real life. This is a beautiful painting that really showcases your sensitivity to light

Thanks CaliAnn- appreciated. Funny you should mention "sensitivity to light", I had my cataracts operated on about 1 1/2 years ago and ever since my eyes have been very sensitive to light and they still are! I have to wear sunglaasss when ever I go outside - we joke that the Dr gave me "bright eyes"

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

I really admire this one, Richard, as it tends towards the abstract.

Beautiful painting, Richard. I like that deep orange streak in the steely gray sky. Excellent!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

This was done in the Quebecois style many years ago on a winter vacation in Quebec Canada with a group of Quebecois local painters. In case you are wondering, most houses up there have ladders attached to the roofs so they can shovel the heavy snow off!

Acrylic - 11x14 on canvas board - we've made it part of our Christmas decorations.
