Seeking scanner recommendations

For those of you who scan your work, what scanner do you use and how much do you like it? My scanner (Microtel 9800XL) is currently defunct. Ok, I took it apart and can't get it back together. In the meantime I'm going to buy a smaller scanner as a temporary replacement until I get it repaired. I was curious about the Epson perfection line. Does anybody use them, if so, which model and how much lip at the edge of the glass. I appreciate all input, Thanks, Tina

Re: Seeking scanner recommendations

I recently got the Epson Perfection V370 Photo. There is a lip from glass to frame, though the sensor is supposed to be able to also focus on parts that are not directly on the glass - have not yet tried it though since my pieces are all small.
I do not have much experience with scanners, but until now am quite satisfied with it. I downloaded the scansoftware (win 7) directly from the epson homepage, and after some fiddling found the settings I llike working with, and it works fine. For an 8x10 the max resolution is 2400ppi (otherwise you get an error message), which is ample. Scanning does take its time but I think that's just the way it is and it's no prob for me. The scanned image has to be treated with a sharpening filter (not very much), but I really like the colour values the scanner catches.
Anything else you'd like to know?

I use EPSON Perfection V33/V330. It is smallish and works very well. If you have a bigger board you can stitch the scanned panels together with Microsoft ICE ( a FREE program)
