Tried a polymer gloss medium but find it makes the paint gummy. I just use a lot of paint to get that effect now. I mean a lot of paint

Wow, your paintings are wonderful. I've been thinking about using thick paint, and you've been doing it. I can't wait to see what else you post. Are you using a gel medium, and if so which one?

I was using a polymer gloss medium but it seems to make the paint gummy or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing.

Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. I know I have a lot to learn but it feels good to get positive feedback.

Thanks, I learned a lot from my three day workshop with Patti Mollica. I had an aha moment on the third day and my style has been transformed.

My personal preference is the eggplants. I think them rather exceptional. Great work overall. Very good brush work. Minimal brushwork with maximum results. Ideal.

Welcome to Acrylics! Very nice to meet you and see your wonderful paintings. I also started in colored pencil, so understand the transition. I also took a workshop with Patti Mollica last year, so it was fun to see your thread! Looking forward to more of your paintings...

Patti had us do a painting where we only had 15 strokes to complete it. It was a good exercise in making decisions about what's important in the piece. I struggle with the brush so it was good for me to practise being efficient and not waste strokes.

Isn't she awesome? She's doing another one in Carmel later this year. I'm signing up to do that one also. I learned so much in those 3 days. Now I'm just trying to put it all together and make some good art.

I tend to overwork my pieces because I'm not confident enough with the brush yet. I think I got it right with the eggplants.
