Niko. I think you might be letting your own personal feelings about liking or disliking the subject get in the way of your reasoning.

That isnt what is in question.

Not good enough? Thats not fair. I made no reference to good/bad or better.

You have opposition to us EVEN discussing these things. I doubt you would have any interest in the forum yet in the process you deny me the right to choose.

On the contrary, I am quite indifferent to the existance of the new, proposed forum. I think it's un-necessary, though, and am trying to understand how you are justifying it to yourself when everything you seem to want to do in that forum is amply covered by already existing ones.

It seems to me that there is more motivation behind this entreaty than what would appear at face value. You seem to be quite enjoying the part of Johnny Reb and instead of merely asking what people think are actively making a call to arms and neo-classicism.

Perhaps I was reading an implication that wasn't there.

Sorry you feel so threatened by my interest in art but you are mistaken and paranoid.

Does it scare you that much? I mean to express so much anger....you must not be very secure in your beliefs.

Surely that must be it. You are afraid we will influence you right?

Now we are getting somewhere.

I do not feel threatened by you at all. But, if that's what you'd like to think, by all means, continue. I am completely paranoid, that surprises no one. But you are certainly fighting for attention, not just a new forum.

No, I would not have much interest in the classicism forum, but neither am I having interest in squelching your discussion of classicism. I do feel quite interested, however, in understanding what it is you're trying to achieve here.

And where have I said narrow-minded? Are you putting words in my mouth? Do I seem angry to you? To anyone else? I'm not. I'm just very abrasive.

I am sorry that the power of classical art scares you. You can be snide, but I know it does. You are afraid of it. Its ok, its nothing new to human kind.

People are afraid of change. I think my artwork has made you nervous that I might share a few ideas and change the world. Thank you for your confidence in my work.

tough one.

I would like to vote no, but not because I am indifferent at all.

As all art is some mixture of realism and abstraction, I don't even think Abstract art should have it's own section. If things are kept together there is more chance for us to learn or be inspired by work we may not otherwise be exposed to.

I feel that creating a Classical Art forum section will just become a hangout for extremely single minded people who can in no way give modern art and modern artists any form of recognition or even tolerance.

Are the figure drawing, oil painting, drawing/sketching, pastels, etc, so tainted by modern art for these purists to use?

Is the Classical Art forum going to be a purist and elitist ghetto?

And yes, I am so profoundly afraid of being influenced that even now I am hiding under the bed.

Why don't you stop derailing your own thread and answer the simple question?

What is it that you want to do in the Classics forum that can not be done elsewhere? Why do you want to restrict your audience down to like-minded people? What is it that you hope to gain from such incestuous mental discourse?

I think we are done with this discussion. Your arguments are weak.

You are reacting intolerantly and unfitting for an artist. Good luck to you in your work.

For anyone else interested I will return later to rejoin the discussion.

Sadly, it would seem to be doomed to that fate by it's main proponent. That is primarily what I'm worried about, but here I am being villainised and derided for holding my contrary opinion. Oh well, I suppose I deserve it well enough.

And to Vince... would you consider yourself a solipsist? You come off that way.

Is it just me? Have I not made my questions clearly stated? Has he answered my questions and I not realised it? When did black turn white? Why is up down?
