Hi Soap. Please be careful about what you quote from me. You are quoting the art renewal site, not my own very words.

Your statement implies GREATNESS.

You alone chose the words "great themes".

I think you know more about this subject than you think. You may even have something to add to a Classical Forum.

As I see it, the forum would need to be no more specific than a devotion to "great themes" expressed "poetically through mastery of all aspects of technique." (description pulled from the mission statement at http://www.artrenewal.org)

I give up.
Somebody else can try and find out what this new forum is going to be all about.[

Perhaps the problem is I don't see what you hope to achieve with a Classical forum. What, exactly would you be considering appropriate things to be placed there. And don't fob me off by saying classical this and classical that. Define it all, as if to an idiot, because, well, hello!

What if I had the chance to see a glorious sculpture that I would have missed otherwise. What if that very sculpture changed my area of study.

What if. What if. There's a fair amount of cross posting going on here as it is, and I can only see the addition of that forum to add to that. Your main complaint seems to be "The abstractionists and modernists have one, I want!"

Where is it that you feel like you don't belong? Do you not draw? Do you not paint? Do you not represent the figure, landscapes, what?

Do you want to discuss art history in the classical forum? The abstract forum, from what I've seen, is primarily for the display of abstract work and discussion of the process of abstraction.

Do we really need a forum for the display of neoclassical work and on the process of making things look like the things they're supposed to look like?

I guess I just really don't understand what it is that you want. All it seems like right now is that you want attention.

No offense intended, of course.

I wouldnt be surprised if you dont. I didnt until last year.

His work brought me to my art. I ask for more knowledge. I am thirsty for it, you must understand my passion being another artist yourself.

If you find the Classical forum is boring, then change channels.

I am not a spokesperson for the ARC. I dont agree with EVERYTHING they say, I have a mind of my own. I would like to discuss some of these things but I have no forum in which to express myself.

Niko, if you give us the chance we can show what we would offer.

You said, "Do you want to discuss art history in the classical forum? The abstract forum, from what I've seen, is primarily for the display of abstract work and discussion of the process of abstraction."

I want to discuss classical process' of creativity, regardless of medium.

Its a wall that is seperating all of our disciplines. We are celebrating the visual experience of life but have no way to say, "Cheers!" when one of us get it right.

Did you know Matisse was a student of his?

Did you also know that people like VanGogh admired this man? He was a very influencial artist of his time but we dont get to talk about him.

I am looking for a place to discuss all of these things about him...and more.

Sorry jimb but I am afraid you cheated.

People who like classical art know this man. His work is recognizable yet the majority of today's art students dont know who he was. Why?

Those of you who havent participated...did you know whos image that was?

He was a picture-maker, a dreamer and an artist who commanded attention with his work.
