Dadīs portrait

Hello everyone, iīm new here.
Iīd like to show you my portrait work in pastels .
It took me three one-hour sitings to finish this portrait.
Iīve used Rembrandt pastels on Canson paper.

HI Paul and welcome! Before you can post images, you need to make at least 3 posts (I think). So reply a couple more times to some threads and you should be all set.

Welcome to WC, Paul. I am glad you decided to join us. Your portrait is stunning and to be able to do that on Canson paper is remarkable.

Welcome to the pastel forum, Paul, fantastic work. I love the combination of the realism of the face and the softer background.

Re: Dadīs portrait

Beautiful work Paul! Painting someone important in your life is a special experience, I recently painted a portrait of my husband in a one hour sitting, and enjoyed it very much.

Your portrait is so expressive and alive, what a nice tribute to your dad. I'm hoping to practice more over the next year so I can get good enough to ask my father and mother to sit for me next year. They live far from me and I want to get better before buying a plane ticket.

Do you regularly paint from models that sit for you, or was this the first time?

Thanks for sharing your work, and Welcome to Wet Canvas!
Barbara

Barbara
I was at three month evening school of figural drawing from models last year.
Otherwise iīm an amateur.
Painting from model is most interesting to me, but not everyone is so patience to sit for hours. So model sit for me one hour each day. After a sitting i have a time to think what next.
I did not have any sitting commission yet, just paint my family.
