First Outdoor Mural - What to Use?

I am going to Indio, California to stay with some family members for a few weeks, and the want me to do a mural on a big flat rock they have in their backyard. I've never painted something meant for outside before and was wondering what kind of paint I should use. Do you just use regular acrylic? What should I seal it with that will protect it from wearing off? Any advice on what I should use would be great. It needs to be something I can buy locally in the Indio/Palm Springs area.

Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry it took so long to hear from anyone, Wendy... you might want to check out some of the other threads, but you could use exterior house paint. Unless you're really concerned, I probably wouldn't seal it. Sometimes sealers can be more trouble than they're worth... but it really depends on a LOT of factors (location, what kind of exposure, moisture etc). If it's your first one, I would probably suggest just having fun with it
