JDH, thanks for the observation about the light spots on lines. I'm just learning how to be careful and what to watch for. Learning how to ink well is something I want to do, so thanks for the observation.
I used a zinc plate. First hardground, drawn through for the lines, then nitric acid for an hour. I then removed the hard ground, used rosin and stop out for the white. I then put it back in the acid for just a few minutes, then more stop out, then back in the acid for a few minutes, then more stop out and back in the acid for a few more minutes for the darkest value. It's quite a process, but I love the work itself.
