Art History > Grad School > Fine Arts

Hi,

I'm in my last semester at University, finishing up a B.A. in Art History.
When I first transfered here (with an AA) I was taking graphic design courses. While the teachers gave me quite a bit of praise, I feared the life of sitting behind a computer for hours on end, trying to enter an already over-saturated job market, vying for 36,000 a year.
So, I transfered over to art history, in favor of international conferences, distinguished academia, and being surrounded in a cultured environment.

Considering I graduate this year, I'm looking to explore my options for graduate school. My art history teacher has already told me, more or less, that I'm going to have a difficult time getting into grad school (because the college I'm attending isn't prestigious and she can't really say a lot of good things about my work -- kind of a hard blow considering how much undue praise she was giving me only months before). During that major switch, I went through a relapse (of depression) and really didn't put effort into anything, even now when I start to write, I think about those words she said and feel somewhat hopeless about my abilities; feel easily frustrated and insecure.

This being said, I'll get to the point: I didn't do my first paintings until I was about 19 (1st) (2nd) earning an AA. I slaved over details for hours and days on end, without questioning the philosophical or financial reasons 'why'. I was happy and focused, I didn't need feel any need to psychoanalyze. Yet, I question if (1) I have what it takes to get into grad school for fine arts and (2) if it would even be worth it to pursue. I figure having background in Art History can only help, but I'm just looking to take the next step.
If anyone wants to see more work, I'd be happy to oblige.
Thanks
