Took a couple of tries and some time, difficult to use just the eraser, resisted the temptation to go in and paint the positive image.

Re: Upload your Negative Painting Exercises

This was so much fun!

I got a couple of tree - but if you look closely, you will see a dinosaur fight, a silhouette of a mermaid, a Gennie coming out of a bottle and a handful of ghosts.

I had to make it an attachment, the upload button is not liking it - hope it comes through.

Thanks, Judith

PS many thanks for this course!!!

Re: Upload your Negative Painting Exercises

Here are my oval and triangle abstracted tree shapes. I did what Johannes did when painting -- working back and forth between negative and positive painting.

Hmmm...I've never actually seen an evergreen tree like this. Perhaps we should pretend these are silhouettes of trees in a children's book.
Better late than never.

Re: Upload your Negative Painting Exercises

Hi Folks,

I'm a little late to the show. I signed up for Jo "Painting Skies" class for 1/14.
I've been looking at the first 24 lessons. Graet stuff!

Here are several negative painting excercises I've done. I just want to get some feedback on them, if possible. Thanks.

They are pretty good. You have two cloned indentations (white negative space) in the second picture.

Thanks Jo. Amazing how those shapes can creep in like that. Thank you for your input.

All artists will have this problem and I can only solve it by painting backwards. It's like you know what you have to do but something in you keeps insisting that it wants to repeat shapes and make them symmetrical.
