Okay, I’m late to the game, but decided I’d go ahead and post a quick sketch I did for a little fundraiser a few days ago. Seeing them side by side I’m realizing I could have pushed the darks a little more, but oh well.

Canson mixed media paper and the pencil drawing takes up about a 6x8” space.

Re: February 2020 Drawing Challenge

Christel, I tried to resume, continue drawing.

it came to me like this,
the photos I took with sunlight,
the last photo I edited with gimp, sorry I post 3 but I wasn't sure which one was the best.
I tried with more grades but above all with soft pencil.

thank you again that your drawing was very helpful
as well as inspiration, inspiration is something that often happens on the forum so thanks to you and all those who post or have posted their masterpieces. remember how beautiful and powerful a drawing is and also how beautiful it is to draw anyway.

about help (Shading and portrait helped me, explanations and suggestions from arnoud and ken help me a lot.
On hair and hair, it helps me to think of ken tutoring where he says it is important to follow the direction of hair growth.
I always try to recall these words. They help me
However, it often became confusing to understand the right direction of the hair. Hair (perhaps because in shading one thing that is wrong is the direction of the strokes, sometimes it confuses me but above all before signing up, getting to know wetcavans)
Your drawing is very stimulating, beautiful and also helpful, great help that helps me to see the direction in which it is born, the donkey's cape goes. it helps to see the aspect that I would like to give to the features and maybe it is difficult to see it correctly even as an idea.
so while I went back in addition to the photo I also consulted your drawing and this helped me to continue it.
it seemed right to me somehow to tell you first, anyway thanks.

ps: today is March 8, happy women's day, best wishes to all women on the forum.

Re: February 2020 Drawing Challenge

Joe - I'm glad you continued with the donkey. There's is so much improvement already
It's also interesting to learn how the hair falls. It helps to look at an animal and feel the texture. That also works well for the muscles and where to put highlights and shadows. If the animals aren't close enough, really good photos help too.
I'm looking forward to seeing your next drawing
