I have been wondering why is it so difficult to paint a painting according to a certain theme? We are given a theme and possibility to show together. They give a theme so that gallery walls would look a bit more united since there are many of us and many styles as well. The theme is not tight by any means and can be interpreted many ways but still it's causing problems .. has been in my thoughts for several months now and I haven't even started yet. Would like to participate to the show just for fun. I can't remember I've ever painted according a certain theme actually. Oh well, just thinking aloud - > now back to work.

LOL...thanks for the congrats Mosc....

and yes, I usually only submit to themed shows if my works seem to fit into the theme just by chance...it is a challenge otherwise to me as well....anyway good luck with getting the painting created for that show...keep us posted what happens with it.

Cute kitty! Looks like a mini leopard/lion mix. They don't need much to keep them happy.

Happy Caturday.
I have a new website and needed some quick paintings so this one is acrylic. Its Mikki's Kitty and she knows I used her kitty for a reference. I usually don't like to use someones art for a reference because I might copy there mistakes. I don't think she makes mistakes so any mistakes are mine.

Re: As the Oily Rag Burns.......2020

Hi everyone,

I wanted to stop in and check on how everyone is doing in these crazy times. I hope everyone is well and able to isolate as much as possible.

Some of us may already be used to a more isolated form of living and manage quite well spending time inside our own heads - I know I'm fine staying at home. I'm very worried about those who get this horrible illness, though, and all the health care workers.

It looks like I'll be working from home permanently going forward, and I've improved on some health issues that has taken all my energy apart from work for a long time, so I'm back at the easel for the first time in almost 2 years. It was amazingly easy to paint, I must have learned something that stuck!

I hope to be a more regular visitor here - I've missed everyone and all the wonderful inspiration and creative sharing.

Here's the landscape I started working on. I have a friend who is an amazing photographer and she inspires me greatly.

Toril

Hi Toril...glad you are doing well...isolation is an opportunity to make more art...is the landscape oil? nice start to it.

I will be starting an acrylic today or tomorrow...formulating ideas...so far since being in (past 3 weeks) have 6 paintings behind me...in oil...most upbeat series I think I have done!

Hi Becca,

Glad you are painting upbeat in these challenging times! And I wish I had your pace, it's always been a challenge for me that I'm such a slow painter.

Yes, it's oil - I'm allergic to acrylics.

Just logging in here and looking at all the wonderful art that is being created was inspiring and is pushing me back to the easel.
