Ai - Love the little patios. They look like great spots to sit and paint. Any neighbors come and ask you to paint theirs? You have a lovely home. Having a stylus makes quite a difference doing digital eh? Well done.

Ned - college kids not only look young. They are young! Nice sketch. Restaurant looks like a steakhouse. LOL
Nice sketch of the tree and table. You show the texture of both. Nice job on the salt cellar. I love history books that focus on a element that we take for granted but has impacted all our lives. Also like history books written from the other side. Two favs are Those Damn Rebels ((US revolution from British view) and Bury my heart at Wounded Knee ( US expansion from Native American view ).

PineCone - Love the giraffasaurus story. You have a wild imagination.

EP - the hand really drew my attention. The colors and shading are great.

Jo - how do get such light hatch lines with a pen? With graphite I get a 3H or 4H and glide over the paper. Pen, well it’s always blacks. Great sketch too. Was lured into see how you got midtones with ink.

Keep sketching
Joe

Ned, nicely done! Good job keeping the whites for the highlights.

Ai, wow! Great sketch on a terribly difficult subject.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #623: Feb 25 - Mar 4

Ai - I'm impressed that anyone can sketch on a computer, that's really good!

Individuo - thanks, I thought getting the colors was going to be harder... there's something intuitive about it but I'm sure it takes lots of practice to get good and have a sense of colors that work together ( and I know they don't need to be true-to-life necessarily )

I would have liked to have another week for this hunt. Maybe one more tomorrow!

Edit -- oh hey, this is post number 52 for me, so that means I've made 1 post in the "introduce yourself" forum, 1 comment in the pen and ink forum, and 50 posts here in the scavenger hunt. It hardly seems possible that there could have been 50 in just a few weeks. Joe's got almost 3K, Pine cone almost 5K, Individuo about 350, Jo's and Ai over 9K and EP has over 35K!! Wow. I think it's neat that some of you have been here so long. Think of all those sketchbooks.

Ned — I had to look up Ngorongoro, and what a place! That must have been an amazing experience! Cool salt shaker sketch - has those spicy colors And the cover of the book is striking. Salt pyramids! Like you guys, I enjoy that kind of book, though I haven't read many. A friend was telling me the other day about a whole book about the number zero! Can't remember the name

Ai — Well done sketch - but I hope the outbreak passes quickly and that no more masks will be needed. Stay safe and well

Joe Thanks! And thanks for hosting a unique event this past week!

individuo Thanks again for encouraging such a major turnaround in my creative life, and for not giving up on me and also Joe and Jo for aiding and abetting

Ned again — Congrats on 50 posts here, and so glad you joined in Probably none of us will ever catch up to EP, but you and individuo will rack up your thousands in no time!!!

Ai has posted the new list. Come on over and continue to sketch and play
And yes, as PC noted, I've got lots of posts (maybe because I'm chatty )

Ned, congrats on your 50th post, there is no turning back now! But don't worry, it is a good thing as you already know.

Pine Cone, no need to say thank you (you are very welcome anyway ), just grab your brushes and have a lot of fun.

Joe, thank you very much for this event, different and fun. I vote for more free association SHs.

A very quick one.
2 - Plant > tree > fruit > apple (Joe, ¿tú comes manzanas?) Ink (Pilot pen) and watercolor pencils on printer paper.

A not so very quick one.
3 - Water > drink > coffee > coffee pot. - Ink and water (with the waterbrushes) on printer paper.

individuo — Love your rakish apple! Yummy yellow/green

But then your 2nd image loaded. That was a surreal moment — suddenly to be transported to a beautiful forest, sunlight misting through the trees — but back here on earth, it had to be ceramic with a transcendent glaze... surpassing beauty - I'm not buying the association to a coffee pot

Your image reminds me of Ansel Adams... grayscale, yet shining with an unmatched depth and clarity and beauty.

Also, "Komorebi" — "the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees"

Thank you for sharing this sketch

Ned: Congratulations to your 52 posts. For me I enjoy a bit of drawing and sketching here and there. It is like sneaking small arts in your busy daily life. I don't do well with too many crowd groups like FB. Although I am also on FB and see so many FB groups relating to arts/watercolor/sketching/drawing ... I'd like the small group we have here at our Hunt.... Hope we all can keep things rolling as long as possible. We all count on you Ned

Ned, thank you!

Pine Cone, thank you so much! Interesting link, and with some beautiful pictures in it as well.

Ai, thank you!

Joe, ¡muchas gracias! As a curiosity I will tell you that in Spain, some of those by the name of José are called "Pepe" by their relatives and friends.

See you all in the next one!
