Is that new mown grass yours JJ? It sounded like drivers revving up for the Indy 500 (a big car race in the US) yesterday afternoon as the whole neighborhood here rushed out to try and mow during the brief break in showers lol!

Tomorrow (well, Sunday) I am headed off to go to a watch party for Pete Buttigieg – he’s one of MANY candidates running in 2020 (well, the OFFICIAL announcement is tomorrow). I stopped at the store to get some apples to slice up and some mini cinnamon buns since it’s sort of brunch gathering in our time zone. After that, back home to get all the things done around the house that I was too lazy to do today (it’s 9:30pm here now).

The parents are back home next door so all is quiet there lol.

                Good evening all.

More weeding today. When will it end??? It won’t. It’s good to live where things grow. I did have a nervy turn yesterday when a branch from the jacaranda fell onto my new avocado tree. All the birds were scoffing old cat food and just flew off. Can’t get good help these days.

I’ve raised four avocados from seed. Two are a different species. I know they won’t fruit reliably like grafted ones but, life is an adventure. Still got three to plant out the back.

Roger is really jealous because he Impales his avo Seed with toothpicks and puts it on a glass of water. I just put them in a soil filled pot and water them. Takes a month or so for the first shoot to come through. Then a victory dance …. one must always be gracious in victory

Bon voyage Doug and Ruth

                Good Morning all,
It is 6:00 a.m. here in dark and raining Oakwood. Lots of rain forecast for this morning. Birds are still singing in the rain, wonder if they dance like Gene Kelly did????

Larry and I had a lovely time yesterday. We drove north about 20 miles to the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center to see the Ohio Watercolor Society Show which was really fun to see, lots of beautiful watercolor paintings. As usual, we didn’t always agree with the judge’s decisions on which ones deserved awards.

This afternoon we will take my three paintings down to the Miamisburg Art Gallery and enter them in The Women’s TriArt Society Show. I’m trying to think of a clever name for my grapes painting other than “Juicy Grapes”. Any suggestions?

Bon Voyage, Doug and Ruth. Have a wonderful boat ride. :D

Char, Glad Ted’s friends are coming round and taking him out. That’s got to be good for his psyche as well as his physical well-being….and, of course, it is good for you having a break as well. :D

Annie, Sorry your jealous jacaranda tried to kill your avocado tree.

                to all,

                SYL,

                Sylvia

                everyone,
The sky is getting lighter but I can’t tell if it will be blue yet. They are predicting sun for the next 4 days with temps over freezing. T will be lovely if true.

We didn’t get a lot done yesterday that we had planned. We are both feeling very little energy so we decided to relax for the afternoon. Today will be for the bigger chores like the tires and the cat mats but first is the gym.

Doug – have a fun trip.

Annie – sometimes I wish our gardens grew like yours then I think of the work involved and I’m happy for our shorter growing season.

Not much else to chat about so I’ll head for breakfast after wishing you all the best day posssible.

                    Good day all,

Overcast and all kinds of moisture is threatening.

                    I’ll just stay inside today.

Chilly here, but my day was brightened by a lovely gift.

Last year I arranged the flowers in church for a wonderful older lady’s funeral. One of her friends asked me to do some this year in her memory and the daughter of the lady who died, who I know, turned up this morning with a thank you card and a delightful crystal vase that had been her mothers saying “Mum would want you to have this.” In her card she wrote about being in the kitchen helping her mum arrange flowers and recutting the stems etc. I was pleased I’d brought back a happy memory, and the vase is a lovely memento of Barbara.

                        Tricky to paint, though!

Tracy, glad things have settled down with the boy next door.

Sylvia, other than “A Beautiful Bunch” I can’t think of a title for grapes.

Annie, I’d forgotten you could plant avocado seeds.

 JJ, Geoff, Doug and Ruth, Ellen, Bill, and all who follow.

In all these things we are more than conquerors.

                            Good Morning!!

Going to be a cold and rainy day.

I used yesterday’s lovely day well. First table tennis, then a couple of hours gardening, cleared the front garden of leaves and debris.

Juergen (son) and Ethan dropped in for a nice chat and invited me for dinner in the evening.

We may have long waiting periods for specialists but when the rubber hits the road things move along quickly. Jodi’s friend and neighbour had her stress test on Wednesday, had an angiogram on Thursday and is having bypass surgery tomorrow. 90% blocked artery, very active lady doing the zoomba the day before the stress test.

Yesterday we tried the Nuts & Bolts I had made a week ago and definitely not enough seasoning. I halved the recipe and must have quartered the spices by accident. So will have to add what I missed out and redo the baking.

Definitely laundry day and other household duties today.

DIL’s parents are arriving back from Florida, will be nice to see them again after 4 months away.

Doug, you and Ruth are well on your way by now – ENJOY!!

JJ, I am so glad you and Alan had such a nice day. Freshly cut grass is one of my favourite smells and the smell of rain hitting warm and very dry earth.

Betty, Stubby was looking good although slightly frazzled:)

Annie, you obviously have a greem thumb:thumbsup:

Sylvia, your brain will be soaked full with seeing beautiful paintings. For grape painting “Seedless”:)

 to you Geoff, Ellen, Tracy and Carol!!

                            Steve, where are you??

WOW, these are great, Bill. Will run it through my in-house art consultant to see which one he favors. Mucho gracias.

I’m drawing out my next painting to be ready for class tomorrow.

Good Morning from a very wet and wild SW of Ontario! We had freezing rain during the night with ice pellets that still litter the ground. Now it’s just raining.

Jonathon called as soon as I began typing my response. We had a nice chat, as always.

I didn’t get my fondant filled eggs made yesterday, so that’s my plan for today. That and the never ending laundry. :)

I pulled a small beef roast from the freezer and will slow cook it this afternoon. I’ll find something for myself… I found a vegetarian meatball recipe that I’d like to make up. I did try the A&W vegetarian burger. It was really tasty, but when I tried to identify the ingredients, I couldn’t. My Son Chris has also been trying to develop a vegetarian burger recipe. His hasn’t quite hit all the notes…

                                Anyway…

Doug, I’m sure you’ve see that I’m going to cause as much trouble as I can. :p Have a great time!

JJ, I love the scent of newly turned earth, the rain and freshly cut grass! Ok… baby’s feet should top the list, though.

Tracy, the Mayor Pete Buttigieg really seems to be an up and coming!

                                Hiya Geoff!

Annie, I have a pineapple rooting and would like to root an avocado. I can’t seem to get those big seeds to grow.

Sylvia… “Wine on the Vine”… It’s so nice that you are able to visit these various art shows. And yes, the Judges don’t always choose what people believe should place. Good luck with the Tri-Art show!

Ellen.. you’ve finally run out your energy! WowieZowie… you, the EverReady Bunny, are as human as the rest of us. :p

Bill, it’s not a good day to be outside, so enjoy the comfy cozy quiet of your home.

QS… I’m sure that the vase will hold tender meaning for you. What a thoughtful gift from Barbara’s Daughter.

Uschi, some surgeries have very long waiting lists. But those dealing with life threatening illness are certainly prioritized and that’s crucial. And, none of us will be bankrupted because of our medical issues.

                                Wow, Bill! Well done!

 All yet to come. We seem to have some absences that are becoming worrisome. :( Have a great day Painter Pals… :grouphug:
