Re: Chicken Blue
What a great painting, I love the colors and the texture. I like the spirited look to his eye too.

Re: Chicken Blue
Great king-of-the-chicken-coop attitude portrayed here! Particularly impressive given the small format.

Re: Chicken Blue
Catherine, things are really kickin' up around here. This is great– the colors the composition and the creativity. I think this is my favorite of your work.
PS This is a southwest chicken if I've ever seen one.

Re: Chicken Blue
Catherine..that's a great looking chicken (Rooster). Funny story. About 15 years ago I was at a friend's who also bred Arabian Horses at the time. While we were talking horses all these chickens were running underfoot and everywhere. I asked what he was going to do with all those chickens. His wife quickly spoke up.."He's going to get rid of SOME!!"
He looked at me and asked if I wanted some for the ranch. I said, ok, I would take four or five. Well, he didn't hear very well, or so he said later. At the office a week or so later my ranch hand called me and said "Boss, watcha want me to do with all these chickens?" I asked what he ment by "all these chickens".
He replied, "Your buddy came by this morning with a bunch of cages and said that you wanted 45 chickens...and they are running all over the place!!"
Good grief!! I thought quickly.
I was building a horse barn at the time so I told him to put them in a stall until I could figure what to do with them.
A young guy that was from LA worked for me at the time. He was very naive about a lot of things especially chickens, but told me he would take some.
I sent him over and Tex, my ranch hand let him pick out all 'pretty' ones.
I wasn't aware of that at the time but I asked him how his chickens were getting along. He replied with a bit of consternation..that he liked them but they kept him awake all night crowing! Tex had let him pick 6 roosters!

Re: Chicken Blue
That chicken is standing tall! What a beauty. The textures are so wonderful in this, Catherine! Did you use gels of any sort? I love this! Great character.

Re: Chicken Blue
Very impressive! I've only worked with knives a few times, and they aren't easy to work with. You know how to use them. Great work!
