Painted from a photo from the RIL by Lisilk, acrylic ink only.

The first larger piece I’ve done in years, about A2 in size.

The focus was more on colour, shapes and water effects than realism.

        Cheers, Shane

                    Thanks everyone.

Kay, you are too kind, I did enjoy a larger scale though, it opens up the possibilities so much more. Size is 480 x 360 cm.

I’m currently painting a gum tree and will try another like this after that’s finished.

Just stumbled onto this thread. LOVE your painting!
Are acrylic inks different than the fluid acrylics? I imagine it is. Just wonder if they handle differently on the paper?

                                Thanks Christine.

I’ve never used fluid acrylics but looked them up, used mainly with pouring medium where you tilt the canvas/board and the paint flows and mixes together.

Acrylic inks are like drawing ink in consistency and rich and vibrant in colour. I dilute them with water and paint them onto watercolour paper. They mix when wet on the paper, you can use them on dry or wet paper for different effects, they bleed a lot used on wet paper which is random and uncontrolled but it’s a lot of fun. They dry permanant and can’t be reworked easily oher than to darken tones or glaze different colours over. Most colours are transperent so glazes work teally well.

Thank you for explaining that. What beautiful effects you have created here. I will have to give them a try.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work on the boards.🙂👍🏻
