Farmland linocut...

This was done a couple of years ago. It's a linocut (cut from battleship linoleum), printed on Fabriano Uno watercolor paper with Daniel Smith relief ink. It is part of the Baren collection which is warehoused in the Spencer Museum, Lawrence KS.

When I did this I was very influenced by Logan Herschel, one of the Prairie Printmakers of the 20s and 30s. I bought several of his prints on eBay and studied them, but couldn't come close to his lovely details.

"Heartland", 12"x4", edition size 40 (cancelled plate)

What a great relief print, Diane. I like the composition and how you did the sky. The sky is always hard to do in relief prints, but you did a wonderful job.

Really nice piece, Diane. It definitely looks like the heartland. It must be another one of those labor intensive processes!

I like this Diane! I think I could have some fun with linoleum prints some day. If I ever get the time....

Thanks, Charissa, Susan, Dan...

Dan... If you have the patience to work your pen magic, you certainly would find linocuts a snap. If you ever get the urge, check out the Printmaking forum. There's a lot of good 'starter up' information there.

WEll, you may not have managed to copy another artist's style but yours is quite nice on it's own merit. I like the simplicity of this print and the flowing lines of the design.
