Fana, wow, your butterfly and thistle just glow! Your pair of parakeets are well done also.

Re: JULY Watermedia Challenge!

Here they are with a pink sky made with alizarin, permanent rose, and Qor quin magenta. Marianne's sky is much better and more vibrant for sure so may go for glaze #2 as this is only one application wash.

Re: JULY Watermedia Challenge!

I used up my water soluble crayons on this. I hope it is all right that I only completed one parakeet. I have never actually used them before, but they wore down so quickly. But it was fun. Seeing the other amazing paintings here makes me realize just how poor I am at painting, especially with water colour

Isobel, thanks for joining us here! You are very welcome and your single bird is delightful. Just keep doing art as much as you can and it gets easier. Hope to see more from you.

Hi Isobel. I love your little bird, he has character! Water soluble crayons are pretty hard to control, I think you did very well with them!

Isobel - great little bird! Those water-soluble pastels are fun to use aren't they. Hope you will join us again next month too.

Kay - Ohhhhh! I love that red background!

Re: JULY Watermedia Challenge!

Thank you all for the compliments!

Love the red background on your budgies, Kay. I'm still trying to do a proper background, usually come up with spots.

Re: JULY Watermedia Challenge!

Thanks Fana. Just wet the back of your paper and the front and blot dry, and washes usually smooth out unless you are using too much paint in the brush.
