Hi,

I haven't posted a lot before, but have been a member for a while. I run a small art business making various different art supply products.

I'd love to hear people's thought about buying online:

- The pain points
- Reasons why you buy from certain websites over others
- What would make more likely to buy online
- What you wish existed online but does not

Looking forward to hearing some feedback.

Thanks!

Thank you, interesting regarding the uncontested return policy. Do you mean that you could return the product if you used it and did not like it?

Without knowing your product(s), allowing a customer to return it after using it may or may not be a good idea. Large companies can absorb losses from returns. Smaller companies need to be very clear on their return policy. The customer should have the ability to judge the product when in hand. The difficulty with online buying is no matter how well the written description may be or how detailed the website photo, the actual product may not live up to the expectation. You should build a percentage of returns into your prices. Good luck with your product line.

Re: Concerns about buying online

I've found most of the big name's, which we're not allowed to mention in case they are sponsors, provide pretty much the same products and services at pretty much the same prices. Especially online.

- The pain points: My greatest complaint is that I am charged shipping to get an item delivered to my door but that no one will pay me to drive to their store and then deliver it to my door.

- Reasons why you buy from certain websites over others: I buy almost exclusively from a single website because I don't have to pay sales tax on my purchases.

- What would make more likely to buy online: see pain point

- What you wish existed online but does not: Fewer forums for me to spend time on.
