Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
I have seen the art show there a few times. It's nice except when it rains.

Haha is probably busy Blue
Just popped in to say g'night again - sometimes seems like I spend my time in bed!!! Don't know where all the daylight hours go
Off to Yorkshire tomorrow for a few days - might get one decent day out of five!
Officially, they say we have had the wettest summer for 100 years - unofficially I say we've had a summer by-pass!
Night all

Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
We have been going to Cape May for years (10+) on the first week after labor day. So I have seen all that Cape May has to offer around that time.

I am way ahead of everyone. I am currently working on being committed.
Mum is doing OK but I think I get a censored version of what is happening.

did you go to the CM zoo and pet the 'teddy bears'?.....
on a more serious note, in a few weeks, you'll get the complete details of her condition......and we're all pulling for her......got to have faith!
a nice time to visit CM......most of the school bearing tourist have gone.....can now get in the restaurants, etc......do you eat @ the 'Ebbit Room'?......used to stay @ the 'Merry Widow' sometimes.....still go down occasionally.....have taken the ferry over, shopped and had delightful lunches over in Lewes.......of course it's all close for me.....
as Maureen taught me, Ta,Ta........

Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
Very late here, but I am still on the computer, so thought that I would say hello! With September around the corner, I am seeing that I will be getting busier and busier! But, nothing like Carol! I feel for you, GF, with the grant(s) due. I have only written 2 grants, but enough to last a lifetime!! I know when you get a PhD, you are a certified grant writer! I am glad that you will have them out of the way when you take your trip to Oz. (I agree with Blue-someone has to. . . about your Mom! Our prayers are with you and the family, Carol! Just go and know we are with you!)
Maureen, I, too, opened the page and got the steamy side to hit me! This group can't be left alone for long, you know! Guess we are going to need to set a schedule so that one of us is on duty to keep them in line. . .or at least keep them from scalding the walls!! Thought Elaine was going to check in on them from time to time? Will have to check that out!!
Thought we would have some of the rain from the Hurricane, but just a bit and then nothing. Still hoping some will get us wet.
For the last year I have met some of the greatest Teens!! Last September I sent out a plea for some teens to help me in the Mission House on Mondays at 4 pm. Well, I have 6 that have really been with me most of the time! They are fantastic workers and have learned the service part of the job! They even came all Summer and worked and even on the days that we were opened for 4 hours at a time. Afterwards, they wanted to eat lunch with all of us with them paying their own way! Not sure my teen grandson would want to do that! God is not through with this generation!! There are some wonderful people just trying to get through the teen years so that they can show their wings fully matured!! I have been totally impressed with their examples!! I am giving them service hours for their school, but this is far beyond that. . .they want to be there and doing the work that is hard, labor intensive, and no one can see but us! A few are even college bound and still want to help. Wow, what a special place for me to have been!!
I am off to bed!!
Hugs, Katherine

Teach
don't sell yourself short......those teenie-boppers enjoy every moment they spend with you and your group or they wouldn't be back......it's the kindness and consideration of people like you who demonstrate the goodness of man/womankind.......and all those less fortunate people you help is a added blessing.....
I think I can speak for all of us on here, that we are delighted that you and your crew are doing such a worthwhile endeavor.....
keep up the spirit of all those you serve and especially the 'tenie-boppers'

Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
Morning all,
Yup been busy trying to finish up my studio and give Agnes a hand with the PPP gallery, but now my room is sort of back to normal, least the computer is somewhere I can sit and type instead of on the floor..haha So no Blue not gone cause you're back spreading your wild wit..haha Just big into Ben Gay at the moment...hahaha
Carol my prayers are daily for your mum and the trip.
Enjoy CM, be safe driving.
Katherine you are right God is not through with this generation, I see it in our Youth ministry and I see it with all the young adults that attend the World Youth Day, it's organized by the Catholic church and is an international event I'm sure you've seen or heard about it. When ya see all those young adults with one another and their enthusiasm your heart just soars and like with your young people gives hope a real boost. And I think Blue is right what they see in you and in what they do satisfies the hungry heart, bless you and them for all you do.
And as an after thought

I do check in but just to turn on the fans...hahahaha
Maureen hope you are enjoying yourselves and the weather is good.
We had one good rain and then just got really chilly especially in the mornings, tough climbing out from under those comfy covers..haha Labor Day weekend is upon us, I was sure Blue was going to invite us for a fish fry..haha
American version of fish and chips, a bag of Wise and fish on a bun..haha And I was going to bake a pie too but no invite..hmph haha.
Well should do the rest of this room and be done with it. Certainly will be all neat and clean and just might stay that way since I'm not all that active in the art department..
Shout out to Patti, Meryl, Shirl, all the peeps.
I'll catch up with everyone later, have a great day, evening.
Hugs all round,
Elaine

Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
You know, Blue and Elaine, that was such an encouraging reply about the teens, thank you! I wish someone would make a documentary about teens doing this kind of thing rather than the drug scene and off the wall behavior! Some of these kids have not had as easy a life as some of the others. What is interesting is one of the college bound kids brought another college bound kid in to help us on a several occasions and he just worked like he had been doing it all his life. He moved into the dorms and will not be with us much. . . But, he knows where we are!
Glad you got your Studio up and running, Elaine! Understand about the Ben Gay. . .my Grandmother's favorite scent! The old body just won't snap back like it used to do!!
Ummmm, Blue, we are not. . .ummmm. . .invited?? Elaine has a pie!!
Hugs to all, Katherine

Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
Ladies
As much as I would love to have my 'girls' here for 'Wise and Fishy', I have a packed house.......just came back from grocery shopping.....the traffic coming on the Island was bumper to bumper....I thought I was back on the 'BQE'.......they were oiling everyone up, just to squeeze them on the Island.....on Tues, my town goes back to 545 permanent residents......it's 16,000 in the summer.....can't wait for Tues.....
I have had steady company all summer long.....last week one crew left @ 5PM on Sunday and another crew arrived from the mid-west @ 6PM.....I'm on a first name basis with the Costco manager.....
and Teach, I volunteer for a turn to try and keep THEM in line.....I was shocked @ the duvets, Ohs,Ahs, etc, Hay mischief and NYskinny films.....
I just pass it off as their imaginations cleaning out the cobwebs......

Re: The Greenies Room August 2012
Katherine - I think what you do is pretty amazing - it inspires the kids ...... and yes, there are more good kids than bad, it's just a pity it's the bad ones who get the publicity!
It's cold and wet here in Yorkshire after a glorious morning - feel shortchanged!
We've had to put the heating on tonight - very chilly!
Keep getting booted off the mobile broadband so better close - just wanted to say HI! and wish you all a comfortable goodnight.
So toodle pip for now

'Tis true, it's always the bad ones that get the publicity. There are some very nice, wonderful kids out there and Katherine is one of the wonderful grownup kids. I believe they all need more credit than they are given.
Sorry about your weather Maureen, you surely have not been having the best summer this year. Yesterday was pretty good here... then while we were watching a movie in the evening the sky just opened and it poured down. No warning before hand.
