Now for something truly different for me. The scene is completely made up and was inspired by Frank Webb’s work. He is far more impressionistic, but this is about the most impressionistic I can be.

12″ x 16″ WN 140# CP

Good simplified shapes with nice texture.
But maybe the boats and gaps between them are a bit too regular.
A bit more variation would create more interest.

The blue shadow under the roof eaves makes it all come alive.

Great painting. Well put together. Breaks rules and follows others. Someone will love this. It will be an older women. Guarantee. She will say “Oh, I really like that” as she leans in closer. It has a good range of colors for people who like to match their house.

Thanks, everyone. I can’t see this ever becoming a style for me, but as Alice said, when I step outside of my comfort zone, my work improves. I am working through a UDEMY course which is forcing me to try out multiple styles of some Edgar Whitney disciples, starting with Frank Webb. While the course is an exercise in copying existing paintings, my intention is to do original pieces in the style instead. Stay tuned.
