Does anyone remember Jon Gnagy?

Does anyone remember the TV artist Jon Gnagy? Here is a video I found of him on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQyXzwJRUN4

Re: Does anyone remember Jon Gnagy?

In the days before the internet and cable TV, even before videotapes (you know, that thing before Blu-ray and DVDs), there was Jon Gnagy, who used to have a drawing program on NBC (Learn to Draw with Jon Gnagy). I remember my brother and I drawing along with him (like, right after the Indian Head test pattern went down and the day's program began - remember sign-offs and test patterns?). As I recall, they were 15 minute segments (who the heck does that these days beyond maybe Robot Chicken?).

I found him on You Tube, and thought he was great. I use to watch Bob Ross all the time in my late teens. Both of these guys are relaxing to watch. I can remember test patterns and sign off. LOL

Re: Does anyone remember Jon Gnagy?

I could maybe credit Jon Gnagy with getting me started. I watched his show whenever I could and my parents bought me his Drawing Kit, with the sandpaper block, charcoal pencils, a kneaded eraser, a drawing pad, and conte crayons. I loved it. I must have been 8 or 9 years old, I'm not sure. But that's what got me going, and I haven't stopped yet. I'm 61 years old now and I'll keep drawing until i go blind or drop dead!

Re: Does anyone remember Jon Gnagy?

I remembered my relatives bragging that he was a Hungarian, and brought great credit to our "roots". I don't remember the shows exactly, but I instantly remembered the name.

here is some info:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Gnagy

Now I'll have to go trolling on UTUBE and see what comes up.

Thanx for posting this
