Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

Thanks Betty, but better not hold your breath. I took a look at my schedule and in addition to several commitments, I realized I haven't even started my taxes, so it will probably be better for me to wait for another "paint together" to come along. Life keeps getting in the way of my painting, not totally, but enough to hinder me. Thanks anyway!

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

I said I was done but couldn't help going back and touching up a few spots that were bothering me. C & C welcome as always. If anyone is still here, that is

Jeni, Your painting really came together in the end. I love the bold way you handled the paint. A very fine effort!

Leigh, this was a very fun project to work on and I'm looking forward to the next Paint Together. I want to try your style of under-painting some time. I agree, form is everything!

Nancy

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

Everyone is doing such a fine job painting this guy. I certainly have enjoyed seeing the changes and the helpful comments. Here is my take on the man, painted with watercolors:

Leigh, thanks so much for this challenge and letting me be a part of it. It was great fun.

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

Jen thanks so much. Hmmm will have to view the painting again for the Jimmy Stewart look.

Leigh, thank you. Oh yes, I'm ready to try a masters' painting having never done one except for a sketch of one of Sargent's figures. I'll be watching the threads for the announcement.

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

Thank you Jen and Leigh.

Ann, nice work! You were able to get good contrast and rich dark colors. I remember that being a challenge when I was learning watercolor. Good likeness too.

I'll have to check out the other thread. I love Eakins!

Re: Paint Together --- All Welcome

You too Nancy and thank you. I especially enjoyed your brush strokes and love the palette.

Leigh, I'm checking out the March challenge in the Oil forum. Been to artrenewal.org searching for portraits. Not brave enough yet for full figure paintings.
