        I’m about ready to sign this and call it done. This is my first 1/2 sheet attempt, and the biggest challenge for me was the background wash. I wish it had turned out better, but I’ll take this as a first effort. I also allowed the subject to get too close to the edge — something to note in future paintings at any size.

        Unfortunately, a robot vacuum knocked over the easel while the painting was mounted on it, and the paper has a couple of marks. I tried to minimize without ruining the painting. I still see them, but perhaps a new viewer won’t.

        1/2 sheet Arches 140CP; DaVinci paints

                Those AI vacuums have no regard for art. Like the portrait. They always look so dazed. I wonder why.
