Re: Will selling prints like this devalue my work?

I was at an art fair today were most painters were selling original paintings, there was one painter who was selling prints of her watercolor paintings. I think they looked cheap and did little to help her sales. It seemed out of place because most were selling original paintings.

Re: Will selling prints like this devalue my work?

I haven't read through the whole post yet, but I don't see where prints would devalue your originals. I have limited giclee prints of some of my work. The basic fact is that there are a lot of people that just aren't going to spend the money for original art once it gets into the $200 and up range. Having nice prints of your work is a great way to sell to more people that would spend $100 or less on your work but wouldn't by the original (if it's a pricey original).

Prints will also allow you to increase your sales on one particular piece. There's more of an investment with scanning and printing, but if it's a piece that people like you can bring in some nice sales.
