Hawk - WIP

I've been working on this forever, but currently have a commission to do, so I've set it aside momentarily.
Anyone have suggestions for a feather texture on the legs?

The best thing I can suggest without seeing the reference photo is to duplicate to the best of your ability what you see in the reference photo. Make light strokes so you can lift them if you need to, and build color, form, and value carefully.

Thanks wingwong. 😊

Hey Carrie, thanks for the suggestion. The doing part is what I'm thinking about. I can see how it looks, but duplicating it is another story.

Love the background. Did you use pastel? The hawk is coming along nicely. Don't be nervous about doing the legs. As Carrie says, look at the reference and don't rush to finish.

Thanks Vena. 😊
The background is airbrushed acrylic. I can honestly say that I hated doing backgrounds before I got an airbrush, haha.
I'm fairly new to coloured pencils; still trying to figure out how to achieve that soft, feathery look.
