Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

As you can see above I used the iResize app on my iPad and resized the picture to less than 800 pixels and either direction. I then attached it but I am pretty sure I could have uploaded it in the normal way. The above post was done on my iPad, this one is back on the Windows 10 laptop.

Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

Thanks, Yorky. I'm on the phone again with Apple, but will download the iResize app if they can't provide me a solution. It seems crazy to me that Apple wouldn't provide a way to resize photos on an iPad or iPhone. You used to be able to do it using a somewhat cumbersome process, but that was changed or omitted during a recent update.

Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

Well after an hour-and-a-half on the phone with Apple, I finally figured out a solution to the problem. You can still resize photos on an iPad or iPhone by emailing the image to yourself, but there's a catch. You have to use Apple Mail to do it, not Gmail or Yahoo mail. So here's the process for resizing a photo on an iPad or iPhone.

1. Select the photo and open it.
2. Hit the Share symbol at the top of the photo, which looks like a page with an upward arrow. That will present a page with various options.
3. Select Apple Mail, which is simply the blue Mail icon.
4. In the header at the top of the email, click on the text for Images, which is on the same line as cc/bcc/etc
5. That will present various image size options. I'm not sure which size will fit on this website, but Small is 35KB, Medium is 112 KB, and Large is 731KB.
6. Open your email and save the downsized images to your photo library. Select from those photos when posting to this website.

It's still a cumbersome process, and I'll probably go ahead and download the iResize app.

Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

Does the issue with images getting changed out still exist? For example, I post an image of a horse. Then later, I post a picture of a cat in the same, or another thread. That changes the picture of the horse I posted earlier into the picture of the cat!

I solved the whole issue by uploading images to postimage.org, select 640x480 to resize, select all in the Direct link (url ends in .jpg) and paste it between image tags: [img] [/img]

Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

Unfortunately the iPad operating system doesn't allow you to give pictures names, so all picture files have the same name when uploaded to wetcanvas. The result is that every picture uploaded on the same day overwrite each other.

You have to limit uploades to one per day or you may wish to use the Manage attachments option instead, that may work.

Uploading images to a hosting service and using image tags. I use an ipad and I can post as many images as I want, not limited to one a day.

Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

Maybe the new iPads are different, but a constant complaint was when iPad picture overwrote other iPad pictures uploaded on the same day. This was because all the images had the same "image" filename. The only workaround was to post on different days.

Re: Uploading pictures from the iPad

Ah, yes, I understand now. Haven't tried it lately, but mine used to do that when I used the WC image uploader a couple years ago.
