"Ellis Frog Chops" 16x20 oil,
Ellis Restaurant has been vacant / abandoned for many years. Oddly enough it is right across the street from the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo- prime real estate. Go figure.
This is the old neon sign on black granite sheets. Loved the 3 jumping frogs
Also done in an "Expressionistic Realism" style- giving the essence of the sign but in a looser style, colors and lines are freer than Realism.
I did this in white and burnt umber on a black underpainting.
One of 20 completed for this semester, all using my own photos taken in downtown Chattanooga
